Ulloa Street

Set in a row of synthetic Spanish builders' boxes of the Twenties, our version is a house shape with box-like attachments. These bays and shades billow out and angle variously to capture views and light both near and far. A large streetside terrace deforms the facade, enlightens the streetscape, and provides a sunny setting as a focus of the public rooms of the house. These ideas descend in part from Maybeck's lesser-known cement plaster houses near this neighborhood as well as our own appreciation of native wit and color.
